Pleeeeease Mommy??

I just had to run into Meijer for a few things.  Isn't that the way it always starts out?  Go in for milk and $100 later you have a cart full of nothing....

I had my oldest son with me and we both were hungry.  He was going on and on about cookies.  He was really in the mood for a chocolate cookie.  While I was looking for buckwheat flour he scoured the baking chips area of the isle I was in.  It was there he found his favorite "chip", the Reese's Peanut Butter chips.  He nonchalantly dropped them in the basket when my attention was elsewhere.  Looking back I can imagine that he has a devilish grin on his face when he thought he had slipped them past me.

I get to the express line and see at the bottom of the basket was his little hidden package.  I looked at him and knew he was up to something.  He just looked around.  I told him that he was being sneaky and before he could respond the cashier launched into giving me a guilt trip of epic proportions. So of course at that point I had to get them.  I would have gotten them all along and I was about to tell him that when I was interrupted by the Guilt Giving Granny :)

This recipe is not mine.  In fact, it is the one that is on the back of the package of chips.  It is good so why mess with it?

Reese's Chewy Chocolate Cookies
2 C all purpose flour
3/4 C Hershey's Cocoa (I used Special Dark)
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/4 C unsalted butter (2.5 sticks)
2 C sugar (EEK!!)
2 eggs
2 tsp pure vanilla
1 package Reese's Peanut Butter chips

Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Stir together dry ingredients minus the chips.
Beat butter in a large bowl then ad sugar.  When incorporated add eggs and the vanilla.  Gradually add the four.  Fold in the chips.
Drop onto prepared cookie sheets and bake for 8-9 minutes.
I made mine very large so adjust your baking time accordingly.

Enjoy :)

  2. Sometimes the best recipes are the ones on the back of boxes. This looks great.

I am the same way with Toll House Cookies! They are truly perfect on their own without me fiddling with the recipe...
